This is substantial UPGRADE over a standard MMC5 which uses a straight tube soft aluminum cantilever and a bonded elliptical diamond tip as well as a significant upgrade over the MMC4, which uses a tapered cantilever like this one and a bonded elliptical tip. The MMC3, like this one, uses a tapered aluminum cantilever and a nude elliptical diamond tip. As such, this cartridge is exactly comparable to the Sound Smith SMMC3, which retails for 9.
