This listing is for a brand new, J.A. Michell Record Clamp that was originally designed for Rega decks
which have very short record spindles but will also fit other decks with short spindles.
This clamp will not work on the REGA RP1 deck because it has a tapered spindle.

This clamp is constructed of black Delrin, a non-resonant Dupont polymer similar to Nylon. The knob is black-anodized aluminum.
This clamp is similar to the standard Michell clamp used on Michell's famous GyroDec turntable but has a shallower rim to accommodate short spindles. It therefore
comes without the felt washer
supplied with the standard clamp because it would add too much height for the collet to grab short spindles. (See second photo.)
This clamp will fit most decks with short spindles that have

record spindle protruding
ABOVE the record label
. This clamp is custom designed to grab onto these shorter spindles. This clamp will also work with longer spindles up to 20mm.
Due to wide manufacturing tolerances on Rega decks, please MEASURE your spindle height to verify that you have

The primary purpose of this record clamp is to couple the LP tightly to the platter so that vinyl resonances can be drained away from the stylus. The sound improvement is significant. T
he Michell record clamp will also help flatten out record warps
but will not totally eliminate them
.
The clamp weighs 70 grams (2.4 oz) and is 88mm (3.5") in diameter. Height from the playing surface to the top of the knob is 25 mm (1'').

Note that due to their oversize diameter record spindles, this clamp will not fit Thorens, AR or Lenco decks unless you are prepared to do a modification to enlarge the inside diameter of the clamp's collet.
