    Description

    This Rek-O-Kut is a DSC-1 Disc Stabilizer Clamp is  m
    ade of precision-machined brass, and finished with a "black chrome" coating.
    -Dampens internal resonance of disc under plan and reduces sonic coloration
    -Especially designed for both modern LPs and old 78s
    -Increases mass of rotating system to reduce flutter
    -Mass couples disc-being played to platter
    -Permits easier play of warped vinyl
    -Helps prevent slipping
    Instructional:  Place Disc Stabilizer Clamp onto disc to be played.  Be careful not to drop it on vintage shellac or glass-based discs.  Play record as you normally would.
    From Esoteric Sound, 1608 Hemstock Ave., Wheaton, Illinois  60187
    "the sound is more detailed at all frequencies, bass is firmer,
    and I'm hearing things on my records that I didn't know were there"
    Rek-O-Kut designed the DISC STABILIZER CLAMP to work with both modern, vinyl records and answer the needs of vintage record collectors. The heavy tracking forces used on 78s can cause internal disc vibrations that reduce clarity and color the sound. The mass of the DISC STABILIZER CLAMP firmly clamps the disc to the turntable's platter, thus dampening such vibration.
    Most similar devices are designed for modern LPs only.  The large diameter of other such weights permit the turntable arm to strike the weight before the end of play.  So we started a redesign from scratch.
    Rek-O-Kut's
    design objectives:
    *  Its profile must
    prevent
    contact with the arm, cartridge
    or stylus till the end of play of unusual discs
    * The handle must be
    easily and firmly graspable
    to
    protect fragile shellac or glass records
    * The mass must
    not cause undue wear
    to the
    turntable's bearings
    * The footprint must be
    smaller than that of most record
    labels
