This listing is for a 1.25" button with the logo of the United States Space Force against a dark blue background. The United States Space Force (USSF) is the space operations service branch of the U.S. Armed Forces, and is one of the eight U.S. uniformed services. It is the sixth branch of the U.S. military, and the first new armed service since the establishment of the independent U.S. Air Force in 1947.
The USSF was formally established on December 20, 2019, by President Donald Trump. "It was nearly half a century from Kitty Hawk to the creation of the Air Force. And now it's 50 years after Apollo 11 that we create the Space Force," Trump said during signing ceremonies at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.
The U.S. Space Force's mission is to "organize, train, and equip space forces in order to protect U.S. and allied interests in space and to provide space capabilities to the joint force. Its responsibilities include developing military space professionals, acquiring military space systems, maturing the military doctrine for space power, and organizing space forces to present to the Combatant Commands."
